Faleolo International Airport Flood Resilience Strategy
Client: Samoa Airport Authority (SAA)
Lead Consultant: Beca International Consultants Limited
Project Value:
Duration: September 2025 – August 2026

Project Description
OSM Consultants was engaged by Beca as a local subconsultant on the World Bank-financed engagement for the Samoa Airport Authority to develop a site-level flood resilience strategy and stormwater drainage master plan for Faleolo International Airport. OSM's subcontracted inputs covered two key work streams: topographical and GIS drone surveys, and social safeguards. OSM engaged and managed Land Marks Surveyors, Samoa, to undertake the topographical and UAV survey and coordinated site access, stakeholder liaison and quality assurance of survey deliverables covering the runway corridor, terminal precincts, drainage channels, culverts and the site seawall. OSM's Social Safeguards Specialist led the environmental and social safeguards workstream against the World Bank Environmental and Social Framework (ESS1–ESS10), including preparation of the Safeguards Coverage Assessment, stakeholder and community engagement support, and safeguards input to Output 2b and Output 2c reporting. OSM performed its role professionally and reliably, with its safeguards inputs well regarded by SAA, the World Bank task team and other project stakeholders.
