Project Description
In preparation for the landmark 3rd United Nations International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in 2014, OSM Consultants was entrusted by the Government of Samoa to lead the comprehensive project management and contract management for the construction and renovation of the Faleata Sports Complex at Tuanaimato. This ambitious government infrastructure project required swift delivery of world-class facilities, integrating advanced civil engineering and structural engineering solutions to meet rigorous United Nations standards. Over a demanding 13-month schedule, OSM expertly orchestrated multiple concurrent construction contracts spanning access roads, covered walkways, landscaping, and essential utilities, including power, water, waste management, and ICT systems, ensuring seamless integration into a resilient and sustainable conference venue. The installation of solar panels as part of the renewable energy display showcased Samoa’s commitment to climate resilience and sustainable development, positioning the venue as a regional model for resilient infrastructure. OSM’s role went beyond technical delivery, managing complex stakeholder relations and overseeing dispute resolution to maintain smooth collaboration among contractors, government bodies, and international partners. Leveraging its media arm, OneLook Communications, OSM amplified public engagement through targeted awareness campaigns, reinforcing community ownership and transparency throughout the project lifecycle. The Faleata Complex transformation stands as a testament to OSM’s expertise in delivering large-scale, high-impact government infrastructure projects under tight timelines without compromising quality or safety. This flagship project further cements OSM Consultants as the trusted leader in civil and structural engineering across Samoa and the Pacific, driving forward resilient, innovative, and sustainable infrastructure solutions that empower communities and meet the expectations of global development partners such as the World Bank, ADB, MFAT, and DFAT.
